  • Athlete's Challenge with Paralympian Nerys Pearce

    Tue 26 Mar 2024 LR

On Tuesday 26th March 2024, the whole school will be taking part in an athlete’s challenge. Paralympian, Nerys Pearce, will be attending our school to deliver an inspirational assembly to encourage and inspire our children to be active and she will also run a fun fitness circuit.

Nerys is a GB Invictus and Commonwealth Games Competitor with 9 world records.

Each child is asked to raise money as sponsorship for us to put towards new sports equipment for our school. Each child will be coming home today with a sponsorship form, which needs to be completed and handed back to the school office or class teacher on the first week back after the Easter holidays.

All children will need to wear their PE kit on this day.

You can raise money on the form or set up a sponsorship page here and enter in 'Farley Hill School'.

We are so excited to be able to welcome Nerys to our school and we hope the children are looking forward to this exciting event!

Thank you in advance for your support,

    Kind Regards

    Mrs Faulkner (PE lead)

  • Harmony Day

    Thu 21 Mar 2024 LR

Farley Hill Primary School - Harmony Day Thursday 21st March 2024

For the first time in our school’s history, we are planning to start a special celebration day.

Harmony Day is all about celebrating the amazing cultures and international heritage that make up our school community.

Our cultural diversity is a great strength and brings with it a whole host of traditions, religions, languages and of course, food! It helps us to do things in different ways, lets us embrace our differences with the aim of increasing acceptance and awareness of each other.

Our plan for the day is to encourage children to wear and share something of their family’s cultural heritage on the day, while we:

    • Learn and teach others to say hello and other key phrases in other home language(s)
    • Share traditional music or dance
    • Share a traditional story
    • Share a traditional recipe

We need your help and support to make the day a success so please let us know if your child(ren) will dress in traditional national dress or costume on that day.  If you or your family have any stories, music, dance or recipes from your cultural heritage you would like to share. (Due to dietary requirements and food allergies, we ask you to kindly share a recipe rather than bring in food itself).

Please note that children not wearing national dress will be expected to wear school uniform that day.

Please complete and return the form as soon as possible and by Friday 15th March at the latest to give us enough time to plan and prepare for the day.

Many thanks in advance for your help and support with this endeavour and we look forward to a fascinating and exciting day of celebration.
