Music is an integral part of our creative curriculum often linked to topics. Music lessons take place each week with the children inspired to compose and perform music using a range of tuned and untuned percussion. The children are exposed to a wide variety of musicians and composers throughout history and across cultures, in assemblies and as a stimulus to support their learning.
Our children have many opportunities to take part in local and national music events, such as WASMA, Wokingham Borough Carol Concert at Loddon Valley and when visiting the local Residential Care home. Children frequently perform in assemblies and showcase their talents as part of our music evenings. We have an active choir who perform at school and community events.
Many of our children learn an instrument in school, often supported by Berkshire Maestros. Year 4 also have a term of specialist music lessons provided by Berkshire Maestros.
